This quote from 2 Corinthians 3:17 tells us that true liberty and freedom is a spiritual state of being that we bring into the material world through our own individual consciousness. Freedom is available to all humanity since all are children of a loving, caring, and benevolent creator. It is up to us to surrender to that creator and follow the guidance from within. The challenge is that we (like the prodigal son) have gotten lost in the world of opinions, beliefs and traditions.
Our liberty and freedom come from the inner light of Spirit. The problems occur when we listen to, become influenced by, and act out the inner beliefs put there over time by religious authorities, family members, political parties, naysayers, know it all’s, and the more dominate personalities around us in our formative years.
Everyone seems to have an opinion about everything and how do we know they are correct and come from a heart of love and caring for everyone? How do we know that they are of high integrity? How do we know that they are seriously interested in the welfare and highest good for all concerned?
The truth is we do not know. Jesus tells us that all have sinned (had error thoughts) and come short of the glory of God. So, a human being is imperfect no matter who they are or what they have done. So, the physical world we are experiencing, is imperfect, and the perfection of love, peace, abundance, harmony and even fairness in government that we are seeking is only in a spiritual context of life. That context is the Kingdom of God that is within. The answers we are seeking are there if we are willing to surrender to God and seek that answer in prayer.
We are reminded in our daily challenges of Joel Goldsmith in his book, “The Government of Eden” where he says “we should feel that the United States has, at this particular time, at it’s head, not only a president but a congress of the highest intelligence and the highest integrity….we can then forget our partisanship and our personal beliefs…then sit down and pray that the United States be given the most honest government possible. How am I to pray?” (And how am I to vote?)
We are reminded in Matthew 6:33 “But seek you first the kingdom of God and His righteousness (right thinking) and all these things shall be added to you.” The answers are already in your consciousness. The consciousness of Divinity. You are the Light of the World.
