We at Unity Spiritual Center Pflugerville are so pleased to welcome Reverend Velma Spence as this Sunday's Speaker! Reverend Velma Spence was ordained in 2022 and serves as the assistant minister at Unity Church of Temple in Temple, Texas. With a decade of experience as a Licensed Unity Teacher and Prayer Chaplain she dedicated her services to Unity Houston, helping to uplift and inspire others.
Her ministry is guided by a simple yet profound vision: to meet people where they are and administer God’s love with compassion and authenticity. For Reverend Velma, ministry is not confined to a building—it is a way of being, a living example of Love in expression. At this stage in her journey, she embraces her mission wholeheartedly, sharing divine love in all she does.
Finding the Christ in Ourselves
Throughout His teachings, Jesus sought to reveal the divine connection between Himself and the Father—not as something exclusive to Him, but as a shared truth for all. Time and again, He emphasized that God dwells within each of us, affirming, “God is the God of the living, not of the dead.” Never did He claim power of His own, instead humbly stating, “Of mine own self I can do nothing. The Father that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works.” Yet, then as now, this profound truth remains difficult for many to grasp.
In Jesus, we see two distinct aspects: the fleshly, mortal Jesus—the Son of Man—and the divine, spiritual essence—the Son of God, the Christ, the Anointed. Likewise, each of us carries these two dimensions within: the physical self, prone to doubt and limitation, always whispering, “I can’t.” And then, at the very core of our being, exists a higher truth divine presence that knows it is more than a conqueror. It boldly declares, “I can, and I will.” This is the Christ within us—the sacred, eternal essence of God.
Jesus reminds us, “Call no man your father on earth, for One is your Father, which is in heaven.” This divine inheritance is not distant or unattainable—it is alive within us, waiting to be recognized and embraced.
