You Are the Light of the World

“You are the light of the world” is a direct quote from Jesus the Christ in Matthew 5:14 when he was addressing the multitudes of people in what is called, ‘The Sermon on the Mount’. He goes on to say, in Matthew 5:16, “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.”

2000 years ago, the multitudes that Jesus was addressing, were mostly uneducated and illiterate, so he spoke in metaphors and similes. It is reasonable to realize, that no one in the audience understood the effect of radiant energy that we generate and its transmission into the ethers around us, as we go about our everyday lives.  We believe that his use of Light as an example of the energy we radiate, was his way of explaining the invisible power of our thoughts and beliefs in shaping the personal world that we live in.

Jesús’s use of the idea of light of the world can be understood as: your energy, shaped by your thoughts, beliefs, and subsequent words, are the creating force of your personal world. We are each the creator of the world we experience. Proverbs 23:7 tells us: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he.”

This is the good news and the bad news. It appears that we are stuck in a creation of our own making, and totally oblivious to how we got there and how to correct it. That’s the bad news. The good news is, we can learn how to think in a spiritual way, and create a new belief structure that promotes love, safety, harmony, and a nurturing balance in life.

The first step on this new spiritual path, is to realize and accept that you are a spiritual being expressing the divinity that you are. This includes letting go of any negative self-images you have accumulated and forgiving yourself for holding them in your belief system.

This step also includes the spiritual power of Faith. Faith that you really are a child of God, that you are forgiven, and that using the tools of the spiritual path, you will be supported in creating a new world.

By definition: Faith is the power to spiritually know; trust absolutely; believe with confidence and complete conviction.

An affirmation or statement of new belief is, “I claim faith now. I believe with confidence and conviction that I can use all my powers at the highest level of consciousness in order to be the best person I can be.”

Join with us this Sunday, on Zoom, as we investigate the beginning phases of shining our light of truth and creating a new awareness of love, peace and harmony in our world.

P.S.  Pflugerville and Travis County have gone to stage 5 in pandemic protocols. We will be meeting on Zoom for now until things open up.
